THE RULES
1. First and foremost: this is a game. HAVE FUN. Don't ever forget that this is a game and that it is meant to be fun.

2. That being said, keep the OOC and the IC where they belong: separate. Preferably locked in different rooms. Don't bring OOC knowledge IC, and don't let OOC relationships influence IC ones, or vice versa (really, just because your characters hate each others' guts doesn't mean that you should hate the playah).

3. Tying into rule #2, drama is a wonderful thing to have in the game, so long as it stays in the game. Don't bring drama out of the game, it makes the whole thing less fun for everyone involved.

4. Godmodding? Totally uncool. You control your own character, and maybe some game-wide NPCs, but that's it. Clear stuff with the other player if you want to say that their character did something.

5. Mary Sues / Gary Stus: just say no.

6. Be active. Seriously, the game's somewhat less fun if only one or two people are actually doing things. That's not to say that you have to be SUPER ACTIVE POST EVERY DAY OMG, but a post or a heckuva lot of comments or an RP of some kind at least once every two weeks is good.

7. The character limit is presently set at six (seven with mod approval and proof that you are able to handle a seventh character and FTH has to be your only game). It is unlikely that it will change, but if it does, an announcement will be made in the OOC community. Additionally, only one of these characters may be an "original character."

8. With regards to the character limit, there are no rules about how you can't play two characters who were in the same house, or two members of any one affiliation, but be reasonable. Don't play both halves of a BFF relationship, or of a couple, or basically any two characters who would interact a lot. Playing with yourself isn't that much fun, really. (That's not to say that your characters can't interact with each other AT ALL, because that would just be silly. Just keep it to a minimum.)

9. Sex, drinking, and drugs: Hey, the characters are adults. Age-wise, anyway. They've all finished their education at Hogwarts or elsewhere, and they're out in the real world. Real young adults experiment with all these things. Just keep it reasonable and realistic: don't expect your Auror Trainee to be able to get away with partying all night, boozing and drugging and etc, and still be able to function as well in their training as their fellow trainees who got a good night's sleep. I don't think that Lord Voldemort would be very cool with his Death Eaters showing up stoned. Pregnancies last nine months, unless your baby is premature or an elephant (and we don't really need to know about your elephant).

10. And finally, the mod's word is final. That's not to say that you can't plead your case or make suggestions, but at the end of the day, what the mod says goes.

And remember, there's no crying in baseball.
