THE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
You have a question? We have an answer!

Question: So, where do the ideas for in-game plots come from?
Answer: From you! Seriously, it would be really boring if the whole game was just the mod going "OKAY THIS HAPPENS NEXT." If that was all she wanted, the mod would just rather write a book or a very big fanfic. So instead, the plot is open to be controlled by you, the player. Got an idea? Shoot it by the mod, and you might very well find it on the calendar next month.

Question: How does submitting a plot work? Does the person who submitted it have any control over it?
Answer: Comment to this post (comments are screened) with your idea(s). The details of the specific plot and how it will fit into the game will be discussed on a plot-by-plot basis. Basically, if you want control over your own plot, that should be perfectly fine, unless it's something REALLY big that requires modly intervention to keep the game running smoothly; conversely, if you just had the idea and want to shoot it by the mod, but you don't want to deal with it yourself, that's perfectly ok, too.

Question: What if I don't like where you put my character?
Answer: All characters have been placed according to canon. If you want your character to start out the game not yet affiliated with either the Order or the Death Eaters (depending on the character), or not yet working at the Ministry, that is fine, but you will need to place them somewhere that will keep them under one of the headings (Order, Ministry, Death Eaters, or supporter of one of the three). Every character must fall under one of these headings (even the characters also listed under Hospital or Media), because the wizarding world is in the middle of a war right now; there shouldn't be very many people sitting around twiddling their thumbs and waiting to see which way the shoe falls.
Subquestion: What about Alice Longbottom? Canon puts her as an Auror, but you have her as a Healer. What's the deal?
Answer: Upon careful re-reading of the books, particularly Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix, I found more evidence that said Alice wasn't an Auror than evidence that she was, primarily the account of the trial for the Lestranges and Barty Crouch Jr.: only Frank Longbottom is referred to as an Auror, while Alice is merely "his wife." If Alice was an Auror as well, I would assume that Crouch Sr. would make a point of referring to Alice as an Auror, too, as it seems that torturing an Auror would be worse than torturing a civilian. All mentions of Frank are very careful to refer to him as an Auror, but Alice is only mentioned as an Auror once, when the trio and Ginny meet Neville and his grandmother on the spell damage ward in Order of the Phoenix. For that reason, I have decided to shift Alice out of Auror-dom. If you would like to relocate your character, as well, and can provide a convincing argument, you're welcome to plead your case.

Question: What is the difference between original characters and canon characters?
Answer: For the purposes of this game, canon characters are not only those explicitly mentioned in canon (MWPP, Lily, Severus, the Blacks, Lestranges, et cetera; basically anyone mentioned in the lexicon), but also non-mentioned parents of trio-era kids (regardless of the child's "importance" in canon; Rose Zeller's parents are as available as Pansy Parkinson's) and the family members (siblings, parents) of these characters.

Original characters, on the other hand, are those that are truly original: they are not found in the lexicon, nor are they necessarily planned to be the parent of a lexicon-er.

You can have any number (within the character limit) of canon characters in the game, but only one original character. Additionally, to have an original character, you must already have two canon characters in the game.

Question: So, what's the story behind the journals?
Answer: A handy dandy document with all the important information.

Question: Help! How do I figure out what years my character attended school or when they were born?
Answer: Quick math tutorial!
You have their birthday and the years they attended school, but not their birth year:
IF THEY WERE BORN JAN. 1 - AUG. 30: subtract 11 from their first year at Hogwarts (or 18 from their last year) and you have their birth year
IF THEY WERE BORN SEPT. 1 - DEC. 31: subtract 12 from their first year at Hogwarts (or 19 from their last year) and you have their birth year

You have their birthday and their birth year, but not their school years:
IF THEY WERE BORN JAN. 1 - AUG. 30: add 11 to their birth year and you'll have their first year at Hogwarts; add 18 to get their last year
IF THEY WERE BORN SEPT. 1 - DEC. 31: add 12 to their birth year and you'll have their first year at Hogwarts; add 19 to get their last year

Question: Tags?
Answer: Yes, tags. See here for information about the tag system.

Question: I'm applying for [Outer Circle Death Eater]! Can I make him an Inner Circle Death Eater instead? Or, could I make his dad / uncle / whomever an Inner Circle Death Eater?
Answer: I'm sorry, but no. Because of the way things have been set up in the game, we are no longer accepting non-canon Inner Circle Death Eaters. If you want your character to make it into the Inner Circle, they have to do it the old fashioned way: work for it in the game. Additionally, we are not accepting any more parents or other older male relatives as Inner Circle Death Eaters.

Regarding the character list - isn't Ludo Bagman still a Quidditch player? At his trial, someone congratulates him on a win, and he makes the comment that Rookwood had offered to try to find him a position in the Ministry when he was done playing.

I do believe you're right. Yes, according to the Lexicon, he was still a beater c. 1980, so I will move him to the "others" category for now. :) Thank you.

Is age a factor with Inner Circle? I was considering holding Augustus Rookwood and making him late-40s/early 50s, as well as department head. Could he possibly be Inner Circle if he were that age, or is that non-negotiable?

Thanks in advance.

If he would have proven himself to be a valuable asset to Voldemort and a loyal and trusted minion follower, it's likely that, yes, but that age he would likely be Inner Circle. So, as long as he is the type who would have proven himself already (and a lot) to be loyal and trustworthy, it is negotiable. :)
